A TRAFFIC policeman died after he was involved in an accident while conducting Ops Samseng Jalanan around Kuala Lumpur, early this morning.
Head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the late Lance Corporal Muhammad Amirul Aiman Muhammad Othman, 24, died in the incident at about 4.40 am.
"The deceased had an accident while carrying out the Second Phase of the operation which was held from midnight.
"At the time of the incident, the deceased along with another member were following a motorcycle, not chasing but following a rider who was committing illegal acts on the road.
"Up until the exit from Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Kuching, the deceased skidded because the road conditions were still wet at that time," he told Harian Metro.
According to him, the deceased fell to the left side of the road and another policeman who was about 10 seconds behind also fell.
Mohd Zamzuri said, the deceased is believed to have died at the scene while the other policeman was slightly injured.
According to him, the deceased had served in the Kuala Lumpur JSPT since completing his training about four years ago and had been working in the Intelligence/Operations Division for the past year.
It is understood that the deceased leaves behind a widow and three children and will be buried in his hometown in Terengganu today. - June 28, 2025
