THE Kedah National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) arrested a male Form Five student in an integrated operation while returning from a holiday from a neighbouring country, yesterday.

The 17-year-old teenager, who is also a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidate at a secondary school in Penang, and his three 18-year-old friends were arrested while riding two motorcycles.

The results of the examination found that all four of them tested positive for the drug ketamine.

He is believed to have taken the drug by sharing cigarettes containing the banned substance with three of his friends while partying in Thailand.

Kedah AADK director, Khairul Anwar Ahmad said the teenager was arrested in the motorcycle lane at 3.45pm yesterday at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS).

He said that at that time, the teenager was on his way back from Thailand to his home in Penang after a holiday since last Saturday.

“The investigation found that the teenager, who is also an only child, lived with his grandparents after his parents divorced when he was nine years old.

Khairul Anwar said that in the operation that began from 3 to 5 pm, they arrested six individuals aged 17 to 19.

He said that they were arrested after the results of a urine screening test carried out found that they were positive for drugs.

“The case is being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addicts (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983,” he said. - September 17, 2025
