TWO motorists were killed early Monday morning when their vehicles collided at the junction near the Semangar Water Treatment Plant in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia.
The crash, which occurred at approximately 7.09am, involved a 47-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man. Both were trapped in their respective vehicles and had to be extricated by fire and rescue personnel using specialised equipment.
According to Shahrulnizam Johari, the operations commander from the Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Station, a team of six firefighters and one fire engine were dispatched immediately to the scene upon receiving the emergency call.
"Both victims were confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics from the Ministry of Health and subsequently handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement issued today.
The cause of the accident is currently under police investigation. Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Yusof Othman, is expected to issue an official statement in due course. - September 22, 2025
