A DEPUTY public prosecutor (DPP) serving with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been released on police bail following a three-day remand linked to a drug-related investigation.
The individual was detained on Tuesday and tested positive for narcotics, with police also alleging he was in possession of prohibited substances at the time of arrest.
Putrajaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Aidi Sham Mohamed confirmed on Thursday that the man would be released after the expiry of his remand order.
“The investigation papers were referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor yesterday (Wednesday), and we are still awaiting further instructions,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Sections 12(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which relate to possession of drugs and drug consumption, respectively.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan previously confirmed the arrest and drug test results.
In response to the incident, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the agency would recommend to the Attorney General’s Chambers that the officer be temporarily relieved of his duties pending the outcome of the police investigation. - September 25, 2025
