A NEW political party - Perjuangan Rakyat today said it intends to contest all state seats in the coming Sabah election.
Its president Datuk Saran Jumdail told a press conference that the party represented the true voices of Sabah and wanted to defend the state's sovereignty under the constitution.
He urged voters in Sabah to re-evaluate the current leadership, many of whom, he said, have held power for too long without delivering meaningful change.
“The people must dare to change. If we keep choosing leaders who only serve themselves, our children and grandchildren will blame us for failing to defend their rights,” he said.
"Sabah is rich, but the people of Sabah are poor. There is oil, there is gas, there is fertile land and marine products, but there are still villages without paved roads, clean water and stable electricity. This is a reality that can no longer be hidden,” he said.
He stressed that the party is not supported by any big sponsors, but is instead driven by small corporate members, entrepreneurs and NGO activists who have long been active in helping the community on the ground.
He said the candidates that will be featured in PRN17 are young people who are actively working with the people before the election season.
“They understand the real struggle, go to the ground, care and continue to work. This party is not for the elite, but for the people as a whole,” he stressed.
Saran also revealed that the party has completed a 20-year Sabah Development Plan, which, among other things, aims to boost the state's economy to be on par with Kuala Lumpur.
“The people want this state to be governed by a local party that truly understands the struggle
“If we continue to elect leaders who only pursue power, the fate of future generations will continue to be neglected,” he said.
