A SPECIAL committee has been set up to ensure that all aspects surrounding the death of a Form Four female student, believed to have been stabbed to death in an incident at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya today, are investigated thoroughly, transparently and fairly.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the case is currently being investigated by the authorities, and the Ministry of Education (MOE) will extend its full cooperation to the ongoing investigation.

She added that the suspect had been arrested by the police, and the MOE extended its condolences to the family of the student who died in the incident.

“May the family be granted strength and patience in facing this tragedy,” she said in a statement reported by Bernama.

Fadhlina said a team of counsellors and guidance and counselling teachers had been mobilised to provide psychosocial support and interventions for students, teachers, and all school staff affected by the incident.

Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Ismail reportedly said that a Form Four female student was believed to have been stabbed to death by a male schoolmate in an incident at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya this morning.

He said that in the 9.30am incident, the victim died at the scene, while the 14-year-old suspect, who is also a student at the same school, was arrested at the location.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said two sharp objects believed to have been used in the stabbing were recovered.

He said the victim was found dead near the school’s toilet area with several stab wounds on her body. - October 14, 2025
