THE Education Ministry confirmed the principal of the school where a fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old girl took place earlier today has been removed.
This is to ensure investigations proceed without any interference.
Education Director-General Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said the school’s administration will be temporarily reassigned to the District Education Office (Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah, PPD) until the probe is concluded.
“To facilitate the investigation, the school’s leadership will be moved to the PPD to ensure a process free from disruption,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
Despite the ongoing criminal investigation, classes at the affected school will continue as usual.
“The teaching and learning sessions will proceed as usual, and the investigation will not affect academic activities,” he added.
A team of counsellors and guidance teachers has been deployed to provide psychosocial support to traumatised students, teachers, and other staff.
“Support intervention programmes are already underway to assist all affected members of the school community,” Dr Mohd Azam said.
He acknowledged the gravity of the crime, describing it as a serious blow to the ministry.
“The ministry views this incident as a serious wake-up call. We are working closely with the police to enhance safety in schools nationwide,” he said, adding that additional security measures will be introduced to ensure schools remain secure environments.
Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed the stabbing occurred around 9.10am.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said initial investigations revealed multiple stab wounds on the victim’s body.
Two sharp weapons believed to have been used by the suspect were seized at the scene.
The suspect, a 14-year-old male student in a transition Form One class, has been arrested under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - October 14, 2025
