THE Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) has reaffirmed its commitment to building a drug-free society through a strategic action plan that prioritises integrity, intelligence-led enforcement, and compassionate community engagement.
“This initiative also supports department’s ambition to strengthen the integrity, professionalism, and public trust in its enforcement arm,” the department said in a statement following a courtesy visit from the Institute of Leadership and Development (ILD), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), at Bukit Aman yesterday.
JSJN Director Datuk Seri Mohd Kamarudin Md Din (pic), who led the session, emphasised three core pillars of the department’s 2025–2030 National Drug and Substance Threat Response Action Plan: science-based and smart enforcement, comprehensive rehabilitation, and the development of a drug-free society.
During the meeting, he delivered a special briefing outlining the ongoing policy review and strategic collaboration between JSJN and UiTM in tackling the nation’s drug and substance abuse threats.
The visit also saw participation from ILD UiTM Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Yarina Ahmad; JSJN Deputy Director for Enforcement, Prevention and General Policing, Datuk Mohd Zaki Ashar; Deputy Chief Executive of the Institute for Public Safety of Malaysia (IPSOM), Senior Assistant Commissioner Dr Shazrin Azlin Ruslan; and Head of Narcotics Intelligence and Operations, Datuk Dr Jasmirol Jamaluddin.
The session concluded with a bilateral discussion and exchange of ideas aimed at strengthening a model of “empathetic enforcement” – one that balances public safety with the need for understanding and humane engagement, paving the way toward a Malaysia free from drugs and harmful substances. - October 18, 2025
