A 69-YEAR-OLD taxi driver who lived alone in Kepong was discovered dead in his home earlier this morning, days after he is believed to have collapsed near the front entrance.
Residents in Taman Sri Segambut became concerned after detecting a strong odour coming from the man’s terrace house and alerted security personnel at around 9.30am. Upon investigation, the guards confirmed the man had died.
Lai Chun Chian, an aide to Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, said he was informed by residents and immediately notified both the police and the Fire and Rescue Department.
“The victim was found lying near the metal gate inside his house. It is believed that he may have collapsed suddenly while preparing to go out,” said Lai.
Based on the condition of the body, authorities estimate that the man had been deceased for over five days. Neighbours reported that they had not seen him for several days, and only realised something was amiss when a stench began to emanate from the home.
Firefighters were later called to the scene to force open the locked gate and remove the body.
The man’s remains have been taken to hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have classified the case as a sudden death and confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
The incident has highlighted concerns over the wellbeing of elderly individuals living alone, with calls for greater community awareness and support for vulnerable residents. - October 19, 2025
