AN 18-year-old youth has today pleaded guilty at the Seremban Sessions Court to the charge of raping his underage girlfriend two years ago.

The accused, who suffers from epilepsy, entered his plea before Judge Datin Surita Budin after the charge sheet was read.

He is accused of raping a girl who was 15 years and 10 months old at the time of the incident, which allegedly took place in a bedroom of a house in Taman Kemuning, Senawang, in mid-January 2023.

The offence is punishable under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi requested the court set a mention date for a social report and suggested bail be set at RM8,000 (approx. £1,475 at today's rate).

The accused’s father, who was present as the surety, informed the court that he works as a general service assistant in a government department and could only afford to pay RM3,000 (approx. £553). He also stated that his son has epilepsy and is currently receiving treatment at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJ) in Seremban.

The court subsequently set bail at RM7,000 (approx. £1,290) with one surety. The accused is also required to report to the police station monthly until the case is concluded. The case has been set for re-mention for facts and sentencing on November 19th. - October 23, 2025
