INDERA Mahkota MP Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has urged Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign as BERSATU president, claiming the former Prime Minister has lost the leadership qualities he once possessed.
“Essentially, he has lost his leadership quality. He is no longer the Tan Sri Muhyiddin we knew before,” Saifuddin told Berita Harian, confirming that he and several other party members had issued a statement demanding the change.
He accused Muhyiddin of failing to demonstrate leadership grounded in decorum, knowledge and skill, as he did in the early days of BERSATU, and criticised the party president for not convening Supreme Leadership Council meetings.
“He does not call MPT meetings, how can we discuss matters? He cannot find his son-in-law, how are we supposed to locate him?” Saifuddin added.
Saifuddin also called for the resignation of two other senior party leaders, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.
He claimed that Azmin, the party secretary-general reappointed recently, must first resolve two issues affecting his credibility: a video controversy and what Saifuddin described as autocratic behaviour. “For example, he recently issued a letter that was draconian in nature,” he said.
Tun Faisal, BERSATU’s information chief, was also criticised for failing to properly disseminate party information, instead acting as a “chief provocateur.” “Tun Faisal does not perform his duties as Information Chief.
“He is more of a chief provocateur. Just look at his internal postings; many division leaders can confirm this,” Saifuddin said.
He emphasised that the call for resignations was not intended to undermine the party, but to protect BERSATU from the perceived damage caused by current leadership.
“What we are doing is not unconstitutional. We are not trying to tarnish the party, but to save it from those who are currently tarnishing it,” he said. - October 27, 2025
