A NEWBORN baby girl, still alive and with her umbilical cord attached, was found abandoned outside a house along Jalan USJ 9/5K here this morning.
Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police received a call from a member of the public at 10.27am reporting the discovery.
“Initial investigations found that the fully formed baby girl was discovered inside a blue bag. She was unclothed, and her umbilical cord was still bleeding,” he said in a statement.
He added that the baby weighed 2.6 kilograms and measured 43 centimetres in length.
“The baby is currently reported to be in good health and stable condition,” Wan Azlan said.
Police are investigating the case under Section 317 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth or abandoning a child with intent to abandon.
“Police urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward to assist in the investigation,” he said.
