AMANAH is eyeing its sole state seat – Sulabayan (N.64) – in the upcoming Sabah elections.

The party announced Mohd Julpikar Ab Mijan as the official candidate for  Sulabayan for the November 29 polls.

The announcement was made by party president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu @ Mat Sabu at the Amanah Sabah 2025 Convention yesterday.

Mohamad Sabu said the election presents an opportunity for Amanah to make inroads in Sabah by winning its first and inaugural state seat.

The candidate Mohd Julpikar is an educator, social activist and community figure born in Semporna.

He has actively fought for the community’s education and youth development in the Semporna district.

“He has extensive experience in education administration and dakwah.

“Mohd Julpikar was also crowned the Tokoh Maulidur Rasul Semporna 2021 and Tokoh Ma’al Hijrah Semporna 2023,” said Mat Sabu.

He said a victory will prove the party is accepted by Sabahans.

"This seat in Sabah is very important. Amanah must work hard, be organised and sincere to win the hearts of the people," he said.

Mat Sabu also urged party members to maintain the values, integrity and moral courage that has been the hallmark of the party.

“The people now appreciate more honest and moral leaders in fighting for their fate,” he said.

He said he hopes Mohd Julpikar will be a new voice that brings the politics of values, change and the hopes of the people of Sulabayan to the State Legislative Assembly. – October 28, 2025
