MUAR Member of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is determined to finish the country's premier extreme sports event, Ironman Malaysia 2025 here, this Saturday, in under 13 hours.

He is bent on achieving it to collect a donation of RM1 million that was promised to be channeled to the people of Muar if he successfully completes the challenge.

The 32-year-old former Youth and Sports Minister accepted the challenge, which was set by local fashion manufacturer, Prima Valet (PV).

The company is offering a lucrative incentive if he successfully completes the three-discipline challenge, swimming 3.8 kilometres (km), cycling 180km and running 42.2km within the set time period.

Through a sharing on his Facebook page and TikTok application last night, Syed Saddiq stressed that the challenge is not for personal gain, but rather as an effort to help the people in his constituency.

“For the sake of RM1 million for Muar, I accept Boss @primavalet’s challenge! Bring it on. 13 hours at Ironman Langkawi = RM1 million for Muar. One door of fortune is closed, 10 more are opened. Alhamdulillah,” said Syed Saddiq in the post.

The short video uploaded also showed a screenshot of the PV challenge on Instagram that read: “Boss Prima Valet wants to challenge @syedsaddiq. If you manage to finish the Ironman Langkawi in 13 hours, boss will donate RM1 million for Muar. Do you dare???”

To prove his seriousness, Syed Saddiq also showed off an action of undergoing intensive training and balding his head, joking that the action could save three seconds of race time.

For the record, in last year’s edition he finished the race with a time of 13 hours 13 minutes, despite losing about 30 minutes due to an accident when he hit a fallen tree branch while cycling.

The Ironman Malaysia and Ironman 70.3 Langkawi 2025 events will bring together more than 1,800 athletes from 65 countries. - October 30, 2025
