CONCERNS over the soaring cost of flights to Sabah during festive seasons and mounting congestion on Johor’s major roads were among the key issues raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Islahuddin Abas (PN–Mersing) pressed the Public Works Minister on the ministry’s preparedness to upgrade highways and main roads in Johor, which are becoming increasingly congested due to the growing number of vehicles and rapid development in Iskandar Malaysia.
The concern was underscored by the planned implementation of the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS–SEZ).
Oscar Ling Chai Yew (PH–Sibu) also questioned the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry on the number of approved data centre projects, their projected electricity and water consumption, and the government’s strategy to balance artificial intelligence (AI) investments with the nation’s resource security.
Following the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat moved on to the committee-level debate of the 2026 Supply Bill (Budget).
