A SENIOR Ministry official has been placed on immediate leave following allegations of misconduct.
Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN), Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, said the action was taken to enable an investigation into the alleged misconduct to commence immediately.
He said that if the official involved is found guilty, disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the Civil Servants (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.
“I have taken note of a case of alleged misconduct involving a senior officer in a ministry.
“As such, the officer will be rested immediately while an investigation into the misconduct is initiated,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, an 11-second video clip was circulated on social media, claiming that a secretary-general (KSU) of a ministry was detained by religious authorities on suspicion of being involved in the act of khawat (close proximity) while in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Shamsul stressed that the government would not compromise on any breach of code of conduct or misconduct involving public officers.
Meanwhile, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said space should be given for an investigation to be conducted appropriately.
“I understand that this matter is under investigation by the KSN and the Director General of Public Services (KPPA).
“Therefore, we should give space for the investigation to be conducted in accordance with the stipulated public service regulations,” he said. – November 9, 2025
