THE Dewan Rakyat will today deliberate on several pressing national issues, including Malaysia’s proposed punitive measures against Israel, financial allocations for people’s religious schools in 2025, and economic empowerment initiatives for Sabah’s youth.
According to the Order Paper, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (PN–Beluran) is set to seek an update from the Foreign Minister on concrete actions taken following Malaysia’s call at the recent Arab-Islamic Summit in Qatar for punitive measures against Israel. He is also expected to question whether the initiative encompasses indirect links between Malaysian entities and Israel through technology supply chains, third-party trade, or cooperation in the security and cyber sectors.
Datuk Ahmad Saad @ Yahaya (PN–Pokok Sena) will direct a question to the Prime Minister concerning the total amount of aid and allocations channelled to people’s religious schools this year.
Economic empowerment in Sabah is also expected to feature prominently, with Datuk Suhaimi Nasir (BN–Libaran) seeking clarification from the Agriculture and Food Security Minister on new initiatives aimed at local youth. His query focuses on programmes related to the digital economy, agropreneurship, and modern fisheries that are designed to reduce dependence on low-income employment.
In a separate question, Aminolhuda Hassan (PH–Sri Gading) will raise concerns about Malaysia’s food security resilience in the event of import disruptions, as well as the government’s long-term strategies to strengthen self-sufficiency in food production.
On youth development, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias (BN–Jelebu) will ask the Youth and Sports Minister about plans to enhance Malaysia’s e-sports industry, with an emphasis on positioning it as a credible economic sector rather than merely a recreational pursuit.
Two bills — the National Skills Development (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the Skills Development Fund (Amendment) Bill 2025 — are also scheduled for their first reading today.
The Dewan Rakyat will later resume with the committee-level debate on the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026 for the respective ministries. The third meeting of the fourth session of the 15th Parliament will continue for 35 days until 4 December. - November 10, 2025
