‘I met Anwar and he asked us to reconsider’ – MIC president
“Anwar is an open and honest person, he asked ... tell me what really happened," - November 16, 2025

MIC President Tan Sri S A Vigneswaran said he had met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Friday regarding the party's intention to leave Barisan Nasional (BN).

He said Anwar had suggested that MIC reconsider the matter since they had been coalition partners for a long time.

“Anwar is an open and honest person, he asked ... tell me what really happened.

"It's not that we want to negotiate to get seats that we have expressed our intention to leave BN. So he asked MIC to think it over carefully," he told a press conference after the 79th MIC Annual General Meeting at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam.

It was earlier reported that the party’s readiness to leave and align with a new coalition depends on what the alliance has to offer them (MIC).

“The final decision rests with the party president, and it remains uncertain whether MIC will join Perikatan Nasional or pursue another path.

“An official announcement is expected only after the Sabah state elections, as no decision will be made today,” disclosed a senior MIC leader.

A resolution was also passed stating that the final decision will be made only after deliberations between the Central Working Committee and the party president later. – November 16, 2025
