A DISPUTE over a customer’s complaint about the quality of food served at a Thai-concept restaurant in Lorong Bukit Juru, Seberang Perai, escalated into a fatal stabbing on Wednesday night, leaving a Myanmar kitchen worker dead and two men injured.
The incident occurred at about 9pm. Health personnel confirmed that the victim, a woman in her forties, died at the scene. Her husband, also a Myanmar national in his late forties, suffered injuries to his body, while another man — believed to be a friend of the suspect — was also wounded.
According to initial reports, the suspect had arrived with several companions around 8.30pm, allegedly in an intoxicated state.
Dissatisfied with the food served, the group became embroiled in a heated argument with the victim and her husband. The woman eventually ordered them to leave the premises.
However, one member of the group, said to be in his thirties, later telephoned his elder brother before returning to the restaurant armed with a knife. He is alleged to have stabbed the victim to death.
Swift action by the police led to the arrest of the suspect and his brother, both in their late thirties, near the crime scene shortly afterwards.
The victim’s body has been sent to Hospital Seberang Jaya for a post-mortem examination. The two injured men are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the incident, saying: “The suspect is believed to have been intoxicated. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.” - November 17, 2025
