THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has refuted claims that it issued a WhatsApp message allegedly warning against election-related bribery during the Sabah General Election.

MACC emphasised that all official reminders and advisories on election-related corruption are disseminated only through its official platforms, including announcements via recognised mainstream media.

The MACC cautioned Malaysians to stay alert and not be deceived by such messages, warning that irresponsible parties may attempt to manipulate the situation for their own purposes.

MACC also reminded candidates and voters to steer clear of corrupt practices, adding that any such incidents should be reported immediately.

"Any corruption complaints or enquiries can be made directly to the MACC Operations Room, which was opened on Nov 10 at five locations in Sabah: the MACC Office in Kota Kinabalu, MACC Sandakan Branch, MACC Tawau Branch, MACC Lahad Datu Branch and MACC Keningau Branch," it added.

Reports may also be lodged through official digital channels, including the MACC portal at www.sprm.gov.my, the complaint portal at www.portaladuan.sprm.gov.my, toll-free hotline at 1800-88-6000, and the MACC mobile application. – November 21, 2025
