A MAN was arrested by police after fleeing a roadblock at Jalan Persiaran South Key in Johor Bahru, yesterday.
Johor Bahru South District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said before the arrest, police chased a black Proton Satria car driven by the suspect.
"The incident occurred at 5.40pm yesterday when the suspect failed to cooperate with the inspection and fled.
"During the incident, the suspect drove the car against the flow and hit several vehicles before skidding and hitting a road divider.
"The 26-year-old local man was arrested and the police also seized a long machete that was found in the suspect's car," he said.
Earlier, a 38-second video went viral showing a police patrol car chasing the suspect's car.
Raub said that a check of past records found that the suspect had 23 records related to criminal and drug offences.
He said that a urine test conducted on the suspect also found that he was positive for methamphetamine.
"The suspect was remanded for four days and the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties," he said.
