THE Election Commission (EC) expects the full results of the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN) to be known at midnight today.

EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said that the preliminary results can be received at 10pm.

“We expect the preliminary results to be received around 10pm and we expect the complete results by midnight todayt,” he said.

He said the EC had provided logistics, including helicopters, in several State Legislative Assembly (DUN) areas to facilitate the process of bringing in the ballot boxes, especially from island and inland areas.

In fact, they can receive ballot boxes from those areas earlier since the district polling centers there close as early as noon.

In addition, the EC has projected a 60 percent voter turnout for the 17th Sabah PRN compared to 65 percent in the previous PRN due to uncertain weather conditions.

“It can be seen as of 11 am this morning, the voter turnout is 31.3 percent which is seen to be a bit low.

“We hope that this clear weather condition will continue until the evening and the voter turnout percentage will increase more in the afternoon,” he said. - November 29, 2025
