THE Dewan Rakyat is expected to witness a tense and closely watched debate in its final session of the term, centred on a motion to suspend Kota Bharu MP Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan for six months.
According to the official parliamentary order of business, the motion, tabled by the Minister of Home Affairs, is slated to be discussed immediately after the oral question-and-answer segment.
The motion stems from remarks made by Takiyuddin during the debate on the 2026 Supply Bill at the policy stage on 22 October.
The motion highlights that Takiyuddin, in his speech, addressed an incident involving the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency at Masjid Rusila, Marang, Terengganu, and drew a comparison with the Memali incident of 1985.
It further alleges that his remarks linking the incident to attacks on sacred places and attempts to intimidate the public cast a negative image on both personnel and the reputation of the agency within the public service.
In addition to the suspension motion, parliamentary proceedings on the day are expected to include probing questions to ministers on key policy matters.
Sim Tze Tzin of PH-Bayan Baru asked the Minister of Youth and Sports about the forms of support and assistance available to individuals surpassing the youth age category following the enforcement of the Youth Organisations and Development (Amendment) Act 2019 (Act A1602) from 1 January 2026.
Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail (PN-Kubang Pasu) questioned the Minister of Human Resources on the progress and outcomes of the Progressive Wage Policy (DGP), implemented in January 2025 with an allocation of RM200 million for the current year.
Attention was also drawn to a question by Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN-Kuala Krai) concerning the number of Tabung Haji depositors who have declined hajj offers between 2015 and 2025, and measures to ensure the hajj quota is fully utilised.
