A BANGLADESHI man has been remanded for seven days following his arrest in connection with the alleged rape and subsequent pregnancy of a 16-year-old girl.
Nilai District Police Chief Superintendent Johari Yahya confirmed today that a Magistrate issued a seven-day remand order for the 31-year-old suspect.
The remand, which began on Tuesday, 9th December, and runs until 15th December, was granted by Magistrate Farha Sulaiman at the Seremban Magistrate's Court.
"The investigation will be conducted under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape," Superintendent Johari Yahya told Sinar Harian on Tuesday.
The suspect was apprehended by police at the arrival hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at approximately 11.44 am on Monday.
The arrest followed a police report lodged in May by the victim’s mother, a housewife, who grew suspicious that her daughter may have been raped by a Bangladeshi colleague at the victim’s workplace.
The mother made the distressing discovery that her daughter was pregnant when she took the teenager to a local clinic for what she had initially thought was an ordinary stomach complaint. - December 9, 2025
