SEVENTY-eight members of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (DUN), including six appointed assembly members, took their oaths of office before Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya here on Thursday.
The Sabah assembly comprises 79 seats in total, though the Lamag seat remains vacant after its incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, died last Friday.
The swearing-in ceremony was led by Chief Minister and Sulaman assemblyman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, followed by his three deputies: Datuk Seri Joachim Gunsalam (Kundasang), Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (Karanaan) and Datuk Ewon Benedick (Kadamaian).
Seven other ministers also took their oaths, including Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif; Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib; and Rural Development Minister Datuk Rubin Balang.
They were followed by Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar; Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin; Youth, Sports and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan; and Women, Health and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Mojungki.
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal of Parti Warisan, who is also the Senallang assemblyman, subsequently took his oath together with all remaining assembly members, including those representing Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku and Perikatan Nasional.
Six appointed assembly members were also sworn in: Datuk Mohamed Razali Mohamed Razi, Datuk Caesar Mandela Malakun, Datuk Abdul Kassim Razali, Datuk Roger Chin, Datuk Ir Chin Shu Ying and Grace Lee Li Mei. - December 11, 2025
