POLICE in Selangor detained ten individuals and issued 710 summonses across the state as part of a coordinated traffic enforcement operation over the Christmas 2025 period, authorities confirmed today.
The initiative sought to clamp down on road offences, alcohol-impaired driving, street racing, and other criminal activity.
State Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the operation was conducted simultaneously in all districts by the state’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), with officers focusing on enforcing traffic laws and maintaining public safety.
“Besides the 710 summonses issued for various traffic offences, police also impounded 47 motorcycles and one car,” he said.
The ten individuals arrested were charged with a variety of offences. Six arrests in Petaling Jaya were under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983, while one individual in Gombak was detained for drug possession under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Two arrests in Kajang were made under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987, and another in Subang Jaya under Section 45(A) of the same act.
The operation involved 222 personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and received support from the Road Transport Department (JPJ). Officers were stationed at strategic locations, including Sabak Bernam, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and Ampang, to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Shazeli emphasised that the operation aimed not only to enforce traffic regulations but also to prevent criminal activity and protect road users during the festive period.
“This coordinated effort reflects our ongoing commitment to road safety and public security, particularly during high-traffic festive seasons,” he said.
The operation forms part of Selangor police’s wider strategy to tackle reckless behaviour on the roads, curb drug-related offences, and ensure a safe environment for residents and visitors during Christmas and other major holidays. - December 26, 2025
