The resignation was confirmed by the former Prime Minister himself through a post on Facebook.- January 8, 2026

PAS has decided on a candidate for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman position to replace Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who recently stepped down, said Information Chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.

"Only one name. At the central level the name has been decided and I am not sure about the submission process because I am not in the PN Supreme Council.

"I am sure the name has been submitted to Tan Sri Muhyiddin for further action," he said during a press conference on Thursday.

According to Ahmad Fadhli, the candidate's name has been decided, but he is not sure how the submission process will be.

It was reported earlier that Muhyiddin, who is also the Bersatu president, had resigned as PN Chairman effective January 1, 2026. 

The resignation was confirmed by the former Prime Minister himself through a post on Facebook.- January 8, 2026
