A DOCTOR is suspected of killing his wife and son in an incident at a residence in Bandar Dato’ Onn, Johor Bahru, on December 31.
Johor Police Chief Datuk AB Rahaman Arsad said the victim, a 36-year-old local woman who worked as an accountant, was found dead with stab wounds to the neck at about 8.20am.
According to him, the victim’s four-year-old son was also found lifeless with bluish marks on his face, believed to be due to suffocation.
“Both victims were confirmed dead at the scene, and the bodies were sent to the Sultan Ismail Hospital, Johor Bahru, for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement.
He said the post-mortem results found that the woman’s cause of death was asphyxia-related death, while the child’s cause of death was smothering, and both deaths were believed to be criminal.
He said that following the investigation, the police arrested a 33-year-old local man who works as a doctor and is the victim's husband on January 3.
"The police also seized several case items to assist in the investigation, including a knife and a pillow with a cover," he said.
According to him, the suspect was remanded for 13 days from January 4 to 16 to assist in further investigations.
"The results of a criminal record check found that the suspect did not have any records, and the initial urine screening test was also negative for drugs," he said.
He added that the investigation paper had been referred to the Johor State Director of Prosecutions, and it was decided to charge the suspect with two charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, one charge under Section 201 and one charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code.
Police advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could affect the investigation and court proceedings. – January 15, 2026
