A CAFE worker was charged in the Seremban Sessions Court today with raping a 15-year-old girl on the side of the road in Kuala Pilah last year.

Abu Suffian Hashim, 23, was charged before Judge Datin Surita Budin under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years' imprisonment and whipping if convicted.

He is accused of raping the 15-year, 11-months-old victim at around 5.30pm by the entrance of Taman Bahagia Delima in Kuala Pilah in May 2025.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi informed that the relationship between the accused, who was not represented by a lawyer in today's proceedings, and the victim was that of friends.

Abu Suffian then pleaded not guilty and appealed for the minimum bail before the court set bail at RM12,000 with additional conditions to report to the nearest police station until the case is resolved and not to interfere with witnesses.

Surita also set March 16 for the submission of documents. – January 30, 2026
