THE government has reiterated its firm stance against any form of security disruption, particularly as the nation prepares to receive foreign dignitaries in the coming days.
Speaking at a press conference, Government Unity spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who also serves as Minister of Communications, emphasised that decisive action will be taken to ensure the safety of both the public and visiting officials.
“Today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has made a decision reaffirming the government’s position not to allow any party to instigate any form of security disturbance, especially while the country is about to host visiting state guests,” Fahmi said.
“Strict measures will be implemented to guarantee that public safety and the security of visiting dignitaries are always maintained.”
The statement comes ahead of the official two-day visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Malaysia, commencing this Saturday. During the visit, Modi is scheduled for bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that this will be Modi’s third official visit to Malaysia. The itinerary will also include engagements with Malaysia’s Indian community and representatives from local industry and business sectors.
In a related development, Malaysian police have issued warnings to organisers of the planned Anti-Haram Worship House Assembly, urging them to refrain from provocation or commentary touching on sensitive issues involving religion, race, or the monarchy.
Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, District Police Chief of Dang Wangi, confirmed that a meeting with the assembly organisers was held at the Dang Wangi Police Headquarters last Thursday.
Zamri Vinoth, coordinator of the Anti-Haram Worship House Movement, acknowledged that authorities had been formally notified of the gathering under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, with participation expected from 141 non-governmental organisations.
