THE MyKasih system has been strengthened with faster access speeds to ensure Malaysians can smoothly utilise the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah assistance, which comes into effect from tomorrow.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the improvements were introduced to prevent a recurrence of system disruptions experienced during the previous rollout at the end of last year.
“Earlier this morning, I spoke with the Treasury secretary-general, Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, and he gave assurances that on the first day of the SARA implementation, we have learned what needs to be done to avoid the system issues that occurred at the end of 2025,” Fahmi told reporters.
“He informed me that MyKasih, which manages the database, has increased the bandwidth to ensure there will be no problems with the implementation of SARA for everyone starting tomorrow,” he said.
Fahmi was speaking at a press conference after officiating the Internet Safety Day 2026 celebration at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens here today.
The media had earlier reported that the SARA Untuk Semua programme, which provides a one-off RM100 assistance credited via MyKad to Malaysians aged 18 and above, would begin distribution tomorrow.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan was previously reported as saying that eligibility checks could be made through the portal sara.gov.my.
A total allocation of RM2.2 billion has been set aside to benefit all Malaysian citizens, with no application required. The assistance will be automatically credited to recipients’ MyKad and can be utilised until 31 December 2026. - February 8, 2026
