THE police are investigating the alleged dissemination of confidential information regarding the promotion of senior officers in the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) on January 18.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said his department had recorded statements from several individuals to assist in the investigation.

“The investigation into this matter is still ongoing and is being conducted in accordance with the Official Secrets Act 1972,” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman, today.

On January 26, the media reported that several military officers had been called in by the police to assist in the investigation.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin reportedly said the individuals involved were summoned following a police report by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) regarding the information leak last week.

According to him, the police report was filed to enable a transparent and thorough investigation.

Khaled Nordin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kota Tinggi, said that so far, the investigation is still ongoing, and they have left the matter entirely to the authorities. – February 10, 2026
