HIS Majesty the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has called on the faithful to revitalise mosques as vibrant hubs of community activity, emphasising that they are far more than architectural landmarks.
Speaking at the official opening of the newly named Masjid Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah in Kampung Teluk Gading, Al-Sultan Abdullah urged congregants to cultivate spiritual devotion, knowledge, and social cohesion within mosque walls.
"Enliven it with regular congregational prayers, educational gatherings that nourish the mind and soul, and charitable activities that strengthen bonds among us.
“Let us not allow this mosque to stand merely as a magnificent structure, yet remain empty of spiritual enrichment and the warmth of fellowship," His Majesty said, emphasising that these practices should form the heartbeat of mosque life.
Al-Sultan Abdullah further warned against treating mosques as exclusive spaces, noting that doing so risks marginalising segments of the community.
"Ensure that mosque management is carried out with full integrity, transparency, and accountability so that the mosque truly becomes a pillar of welfare, unity, and the well-being of the entire ummah," he said, calling for inclusive administration to guarantee that mosques serve as foundations of cohesion, prosperity, and social harmony for all.
