THE Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) reported a landmark year in 2025, securing RM78.95 billion in realised investments and creating more than 23,000 employment opportunities, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.
Chairing the 35th meeting of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority today, Anwar highlighted that the region’s success reflects both strong capital inflows and the development of local talent.
“Last year, NCER successfully produced 4,000 local talents who meet the investor and industry requirements through the NCER Technology Innovation Centre (NTIC) programme,” he said in a post on X.
The Prime Minister, who also holds the Finance portfolio, noted that the meeting considered strategic plans for 2026 and beyond, with a focus on accelerating the realisation of high-quality investments in northern Malaysia.
“These include several potential investments related to Kedah Rubber City (KRC) and the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) in Perlis,” he explained.
Anwar added that discussions also explored initiatives to broaden the impact of investment ecosystem development along the Malaysia–Thailand border and to revive the tourism competitiveness of Langkawi Island.
The NCER continues to position itself as a critical driver of economic growth in northern Malaysia, combining targeted infrastructure development, talent cultivation, and industry-focused programmes to attract domestic and foreign investment while fostering sustainable regional development. - February 23, 2026
