KOTA KINABALU – Ruling Warisan and their allies ramped up its campaign when campaigners organised an eating fest aptly named Pesta Makan Peri-Katak Nasi Putih (grilled frog with white rice fest) at Medan Selera Bundusan 888 in Penampang.

A video of the event went viral on social media messaging apps, such as WhatsApp and in the video, supporters were seen taking photos and videos of the fest, ending it with “panggang katak!” (grill the frogs) and “vote for Warisan”.

The one-minute video showed Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin with Warisan Plus candidates, including Sabah PKR chief Christina Liew, who will be defending her seat in Api-Api “grilling” the frogs on charcoal pit.

They were taking a swipe at the assemblymen who jumped ship that led to the dissolution of the state assembly last July.

Chan also posted on his Facebook page that the frogs were “grilled and served as a sign of the people objecting to Katakcracy” (party-hopping).

Sabah state assembly was dissolved on July 30 and the state heads to the polls tomorrow. This is the state's 16th election with 447 candidates vying for 73 seats. – September 25, 2020
