A TECHNICIAN, who is also a suspected paedophile, changed his plea to guilty at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court today to three charges of trafficking three newborn babies aged five and seven days, two years ago.
Judge Mohd Zamir Suhaimee set March 13 for the hearing of the facts of the case and sentencing of the accused, Muhammad Imran Abdullah, 29.
The accused is charged with trafficking two five-day-old baby girls and a seven-day-old baby boy for illegal exploitation, reported Berita Harian.
He is charged with committing all the acts in Taman Melor, Tampoi, as well as Taman Kota Masai and Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang, between 9pm on March 11 and noon on November 24, 2024.
The charge was made under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) Act 2007, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a life sentence or a minimum of five years' imprisonment and caning, if convicted.
The case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Diyana Zubir while the accused was represented by lawyer Mohamed Imran Mohamed Sam.
On January 16, Muhammad Imran, who was charged in the same court on all three charges, pleaded not guilty and asked to be tried.
Previously, on December 19 last year, Muhammad Imran also pleaded not guilty in the same court on seven charges, including sexually assaulting three girls aged five to seven.
The accused was also charged with producing child sexual abuse material by recording a video of a child with her clothes pulled up to reveal parts of her body.
The man is alleged to have committed the act in Pasir Gudang between 10.30 am and 11 am on April 5 last year.
He was charged under Section 5 of the Child Offences Act 2017, which provides for a prison sentence of not more than 30 years and caning of not less than six strokes.
The court set a re-mention of all charges today, but had to postpone it to March 2 and 4. – February 27, 2026
