A DANGEROUS act of reckless behaviour by a teenager, throwing a brick from a high-rise residential walkway in Cheras has gone viral on social media, prompting public concern over safety in densely populated housing areas.

The 34-second video shows a teenage boy walking along a corridor of an apartment building before stopping to pick up a brick placed outside one of the residential units.

He is then seen surveying the area briefly before throwing the object over the edge of the building to the ground below.

The incident, which appears to have taken place in a residential complex in Cheras, has raised alarm over the potential risk to public safety had anyone been struck by the falling object.

Authorities have since confirmed the matter.

Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud confirmed the incident when contacted, stating that preliminary information indicates no injuries have been reported.

“Preliminary information indicates that there are no victims or any individuals who sustained injuries in the incident,” he said.

He added that further details regarding the case would be released as investigations progress.

“Full information will be provided later,” he said.

Police are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the act, including how the teenager gained access to the object and whether any charges will be considered as part of the ongoing probe. - April 11, 2026
