THE government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Bumiputera entrepreneurship, unveiling more ambitious targets aimed at accelerating growth, expanding market presence and enhancing competitiveness under the MADANI framework.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as Finance Minister, said the strategy centres on reinforcing the Bumiputera Commercial and Industrial Community as a key pillar of national economic development.
Among the new benchmarks is a plan to raise investments by government-linked investment companies to RM2 billion, alongside efforts to deliver at least ten new public listings and cultivate a new generation of high-performing Bumiputera firms.
These firms, he said, are expected to achieve company valuations of up to RM500 million within five years.
“This is not merely about numbers but a symbol of our resolve to elevate the economic standing of the Bumiputera community to a more sustainable and competitive level,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook.
Anwar emphasised that the government’s approach must be comprehensive, combining support for resilient existing enterprises with opportunities in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
He pointed to the success of brands such as SERAI and GlocAI as evidence that Bumiputera entrepreneurs can thrive in the modern economy when supported by the right ecosystem.
“The success of brands such as SERAI and GlocAI shows that when the right ecosystem is provided, Bumiputera entrepreneurs are able to stand on equal footing, and even excel, in the modern economic landscape,” he said.
The Prime Minister added that access to financing, government procurement and broader commercial opportunities would continue to be expanded, citing companies including Bateriku, Hanan Medicare, Bluesify, Pak Tam and Meraque as examples of how inclusive governance can foster sustainable entrepreneurial success.
He stressed that the government would continue to listen, assess and refine its policies to ensure they reflect on-the-ground realities and deliver meaningful outcomes.
“Ultimately, with collective commitment and principled leadership, we are confident that the Bumiputera entrepreneurship agenda will continue to grow, not only as a pillar of the national economy but as a manifestation of social justice at the core of the MADANI vision,” he said.
