The girl who was involved in an accident at Kilometre 51.4 of the Kota Bharu–Kuala Krai Road near Kampung Pek (Kota Bharu) while on her way to school yesterday morning underwent surgery to have her right leg amputated to the thigh level to avoid serious complications.

Nadzri Abdullah, 51, said his niece, Mas Siti Rosnani Rosli, 7, is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM).

"My niece's right leg had to be amputated after a blood clot occurred, and the tissue and flesh in the leg had died, to prevent more serious complications from developing," he said when contacted by Berita Harian.

Nadzri said another nephew, Muhammad Muskir Rosli, 14, is scheduled to undergo surgery at the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital (HSIP), Kuala Krai, today.

"Muhammad Muskir was seriously injured when his right femur was shattered and needed to have a metal piece inserted in his leg, while my other two nephews, Muhamad Hakikat Abdul Rahman, 9, and Muhammad Zulhaqif Muhamad Zulkifli, 12, are in stable condition and are receiving treatment at HSIP, Kuala Krai," he said.

Nadzri also hoped that the public would not spread untrue news about the condition of his nephew and niece, who are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

"I hope that the public can pray for their recovery," he said.

The media yesterday reported that four siblings who were on their way to school were seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with a car.

Machang District Police Chief, Superintendent Azuhar Md Nor, said initial investigations found that the Honda Jazz car driven by a 39-year-old female teacher was coming from Machang towards Kuala Krai before colliding with a Honda C100 motorcycle that all the victims were riding from the opposite direction. – May 12, 2026
