Prasarana under investigation, MACC confirms

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has confirmed that an investigation was initiated against Prasarana Malaysia Bhd today.

A senior MACC source told The Vibes that officers have been at the Prasarana office in Bangsar since 10.30am.

The Edge earlier reported that Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman “had sought the termination of the contractors of the transport-oriented development at the Dang Wangi light rail transit station, with Prasarana looking to play a more prominent role in the project and eventually move its office to the new development”.

Tajuddin is holding a press conference at the company’s office, which began at 4pm today.

MACC chief Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed to Malaysiakini that an investigation has been launched into the transport operator.

“Yes, I can confirm that MACC has begun an investigation into the issue.

“My officers went to Prasarana to take files, and will call the relevant witnesses,” he said in a text message to the news portal.

Tajuddin, who is also Pasir Salak MP, was appointed Prasarana chairman last May. – The Vibes, January 4, 2021
