BARISAN Nasional (BN) Chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, announced that the party will contest solo in the Negeri Sembilan state election (PRN).

"Yes, in Negeri Sembilan, (BN) will definitely go solo because Pakatan Harapan (PH) has announced that they will contest in all 36 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats.

"That means, we have no choice but to contest solo," he said.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, on June 4 dissolved the state assembly after receiving the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir at an audience held at Istana Besar Seri Menanti on the same day.

Negeri Sembilan is the second state to dissolve the state assembly to make way for the state election after Johor, which did so earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said that BN would continue to cooperate with the Unity Government until the end of the administration's term.

"We are still working closely as a team, and I think we should continue (cooperation) at least until the end of the term," he said.

Ahmad Zahid also ruled out the possibility that Muafakat Nasional (MN) would be revived.

"MN was registered as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) by someone. So, we have absolutely no intention and no desire to revive MN, whether (MN) 1.0 or 2.0. That is final, and we have closed the book," he said. – June 9, 2026
