Johor caretaker government continues administrative duties ahead of state election
The Johor state administration is operating in a caretaker capacity following the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly on 1 June - June 11, 2026

THE Johor state government continues to function in a caretaker role, operating at a minimal administrative level to ensure the continuity of daily governance ahead of the impending state election.

According to a statement posted on the Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, although the Johor State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on 1 June, all routine administrative affairs remain in operation and continue to require close oversight.

In line with the caretaker arrangements, His Majesty met Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi in audience at Istana Pasir Pelangi on Tuesday, where the latest developments in the state’s administration were presented and discussed.

The meeting was described as part of a regular series of engagements between the monarch and the Menteri Besar, which continue even after the dissolution of the state legislature to ensure administrative continuity under caretaker conventions.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Malaysia is scheduled to convene a special meeting tomorrow to determine the key dates for the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, which are expected to set the official timeline for the electoral process.

The caretaker administration is expected to remain in place until the formation of a new state government following the polls, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of essential public services during the transition period. - June 11, 2026
