KOTA KINABALU – Kadamaian assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick has initiated legal action against Sabahkini2 website, saying the article it carried is malicious and libellous.

“I have hired legal counsel for the suit and the other processes against them for libellous posts on Facebook and WhatsApp.”

He said this after making a police report at the Karamunsing police station this morning on Sabahkini’s post linking Ewon to corrupt practices in the appointments for the Kebidahan road project and road projects in Kota Belud.

He said the article is malicious and affected his credibility as Kadamaian assemblyman and former Sabah rural development minister.

“I have asked the police and other relevant agencies to investigate the website.”

Sabahkini2 had alleged that the Dumpiring Kebidahan road maintenance project and related roads were priced up to 40 times higher.

It claimed that the Dumpiring Kebidahan road is only 2.3km-long but the cost was RM2.44 million or RM1.06 million per kilometre.

It had questioned how much Ewon received as commission after Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Peter Anthony approved the project. – The Vibes, January 4, 2021
