A TIKTOK user who was linked to a controversy while on holiday in China has come forward to apologise through a video post on the platform today.
Realising that her short video continues to be the talk of the town and is criticised by online users, Nur Asyiqin Mohd Dalil came forward to make a public apology and admitted that her behaviour occurred spontaneously and was a mistake.
"I humbly and sincerely want to apologise for the viral issue, namely the mistake of my spontaneous reaction while on holiday in China on June 15.
"I understand and take full responsibility for the action that caused discomfort to anyone.
"I respect the views, criticisms and feelings of all parties and never intended to offend, humiliate or cause any conflict because at that time it was just a spontaneous reaction that was not planned," she explained via her TikTok account @ekyn_wong.
At the same time, Nur Asyiqin stated that she accepted and took note of every reprimand given with an open heart, in addition to admitting regret for her actions.
"I am remorseful for my excessive actions. From this incident, I will be more careful in every action I take and will be more alert to public sensitivities.
"Finally, I once again apologise to all parties who were affected and hope that this matter can be resolved.
"I promise to use this experience as a lesson to become a more mature and responsible individual in the future," she explained.
Earlier, a video that went viral on social media showed several Malaysians allegedly uttering insulting words such as "rotten" and "not bathing" while in a public area in China.
In the footage, they were also seen deliberately covering their noses, an action that drew heavy criticism from social media users in Malaysia and Chinese citizens.
The video was also reported to have received widespread attention on social media platforms and sparked discontent among the local community. – June 20, 2026
