A SYNDICATE operating online football betting was successfully busted in an Op Soga XI raid on an office shop unit in Cheras, yesterday.

The raid at 2.40 am was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD) and resulted in the arrest of 32 Chinese nationals.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, said that of the total, the arrests involved 29 men and three women aged between 20 and 40 years.

“This syndicate is believed to be responsible for managing customer accounts, supervising transactions and promoting online football betting.

“Investigations found that this syndicate was operating football betting through the website 6288.com and using the office shop unit as an operations centre which had been operating for about three weeks,” he said in a statement today.

Fadil added that the police also seized 28 computers, various brands of mobile phones, internet modems and various other equipment believed to be used to carry out the activities.

“All suspects have been remanded for four days until Saturday to assist in the investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Open Gambling Houses Act 1953, Section 4(1)(e) of the Betting Act and Section 6(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” he said.

Fadil stressed that police will continue to intensify Op Soga XI throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He said it will focus on betting agents, organizers and individuals involved in gambling activities, whether physical or online. – July 2, 2026
