PSR project, respect court decision – Penang CM
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that if there is an injunction, the State Government certainly cannot continue with the work.

THE Penang Government will continue with the Penang South Reclamation Project (PSR) because there is no court injunction preventing it, and the public should not be misled or confused over it.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that if there is an injunction, the State Government certainly cannot continue with the work.

“However, no injunction has been issued, and the State Government will continue to implement the project in accordance with the approvals obtained,” he told a press conference.

He said this when asked about a media statement by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) regarding the Court of Appeal’s decision to reject their appeal and that of several other parties in the recent PSR case.

Chow added that all parties must respect the court’s decision and not dispute the judgment.

“If there is any party that is not satisfied with the Court of Appeal’s decision, the correct channel is to take the matter to a higher court.

“The fact is, the Court of Appeal has rejected the appeal; that is the court’s decision.

“The public can make various interpretations, but the real decision is that the appeal has been rejected,” he stressed.

On June 30, the Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by seven fishermen, together with SAM and Jaringan Ekologi dan Iklim, against the planning permission granted for the PSR project. – July 3, 2026
