11 dead, 35 injured during RXZ Members 8.0 event

A TOTAL of 11 motorcyclists died in road accidents during the four-day RXZ Members 8.0 program from July 30 to August 2.

During the same period, five serious accidents and 30 minor ones were also recorded.

Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director, Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali, said that a total of 46 accident cases involving motorcyclists were recorded during the period.

According to him, the highest number of accidents was recorded on July 31 with 16 cases, followed by 15 cases on August 2, 11 cases on August 1 and four cases on July 30.

“The 21 to 30-year-old group was the most involved in accidents, with 19 people."

Followed by 10 riders aged 18 to 20 years, nine riders aged 41 to 50 years and eight riders aged 31 to 40 years," he said in a statement.

Muhammed Hasbullah said that, in total, 29 of the 46 riders were aged between 18 and 30 years.

He said that 20-year-old riders recorded the highest involvement, which was seven people.

In terms of gender, 44 victims were male, while the other two were female.

Commenting on the type of accident, he said, rear-end collision accidents recorded the highest number with 21 cases, followed by skidding with 15 cases.

"Among the factors identified as contributing to accidents are negligence, failure to control the machine, following too closely and riding unsafely," he said.

He said that JSPT views seriously the number of fatal and serious accidents that occur, especially involving young motorcyclists. – August 4, 2026
