PAKATAN Harapan (PH) Melaka is studying all 28 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats to identify potential areas to contest in the upcoming State Election (PRN), aiming to increase the number of seats from the current five.
PH Melaka chairman, Adly Zahari, said, PH Melaka's main focus at the moment is to increase the number of victories by taking into account its current strength, the results of the PRN and the previous General Election (GE).
According to him, PH Melaka, which currently has five DUN seats, believes there is still room to increase the number in the upcoming Melaka PRN.
"We have not finalised the number yet, but we are identifying where our advantages lie. We know we have three Parliaments, namely Alor Gajah, Kota Melaka and Hang Tuah Jaya.
"We have potential in each parliamentary constituency, in addition to areas we did not win, such as Tangga Batu, Masjid Tanah and some in Jasin," he said.
Adly, who is also Deputy Minister of Defence, said they are now focusing on several key seats where they believe they have a chance, in addition to ensuring the readiness of the party machinery.
"We are optimistic about increasing the number of seats we have. We will look at the potential of these seats and identify which we will contest (additionally).
"The most important thing is that we have provided good services to the people. We leave it to them to make the assessment," he said.
In a similar development, Adly said PH Melaka is always open to negotiating political cooperations with any party, but so far has not held discussions, including with Barisan Nasional (BN) Melaka Chairman, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
He said any negotiations must first be held among state PH representatives before any further steps are taken. – August 9, 2026
