PAS’ revival of its “Malay-Muslim unity” slogan ahead of the Melaka state election has drawn jibes from social media users, with some linking it to the political turmoil in Negeri Sembilan.
PAS central information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, in a Facebook post, said “Melaka is calling”, while suggesting that the unity agenda would once again be pursued.
“Malay-Muslim unity will once again be realised. Insya-Allah, PH (Pakatan Harapan) will suffer its next defeat,” he said.
The remarks were met with comments from users who brought up PAS’ previous political alliances, including the latest developments in Negeri Sembilan.
Facebook user Nagin Nirmala sarcastically referred to the “blue and green unity” in Negeri Sembilan, saying the alliance had instead resulted in political turmoil in the state.
“Already unity of the ummah… Negeri Sembilan is in chaos,” wrote Fakruzaman Ismail.
Mohamad Asraff questioned whether the slogan was genuinely about the interests of the community or political positions.
“Unity of the ummah, they say… when what they really want are positions,” he wrote.
Other users also revisited PAS’ past relationships with political parties that had been its allies, questioning whether such cooperation could hold when the parties’ political interests began to clash.
Some also brought up the period when PAS was part of the federal government, raising issues over the prices and supply of essential goods.
The comments come as PAS prepares for the Melaka state election, with the party once again putting “Malay-Muslim unity” at the centre of its political pitch.
But for some social media users, the slogan has also revived questions over PAS’ past alliances and the political disputes that followed them. – September 23, 2026
