PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed alarm over reports that far-right extremism may have influenced the attacker in a shooting in Kraków, Poland, which claimed six lives and left several others injured.

He said the reported extremist links were deeply concerning, stressing that no political belief or ideology could ever justify violence against innocent people.

In a statement issued today, Anwar said the tragedy highlighted the need to confront extremism and violence regardless of their origins.

“Reports that the attacker was influenced by far-right extremism are deeply troubling. This tragedy reminds us of the need to confront violence in all its forms, including the growing threat of far-right extremism.”

“No ideology can justify the killing of innocent people,” he said.

Anwar also extended Malaysia’s condolences to the families of those killed and expressed solidarity with the people of Poland.

He wished those injured a speedy recovery.

“Malaysia stands with the people of Poland and extends its condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. We pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” he said.

He added that Malaysia remained committed to working with the international community to combat extremism and uphold peace and human dignity. - November 8, 2026
